THE ADAC’S CYCLOTOURISM ROUTES

 PALS 

Torroella de Montgrí – Gualta – Fontanilles – Palau-sator – Peratallada – Sant Feliu de Boada – Pals – Camping El Delfín Verde –  Mas Pinell – Torroella de Montgrí

This route will lead you along a very smooth area full of well indicated bike pathways. The main attractions of the route are the Empordà’s landscape, its rice fields, the mouth of the river Ter and the visit to villages such as Palau-sator, Peratallada, Pals, which beautifully show us the medieval architecture of the area.

Please take into account that this route isn’t suitable in raining seasons, since the pathways between Pals and La Gola can be very muddy.

We will start at the parking place of a supermarket placed at the South part of Torroella de Montgrí and we will cross the bridge that will lead us to the other side of the river Ter. There we will take a path on the right which leads us to Gualta; we will ride along the this village till its end. Then, we will go South, crossing the villages of Fontanilles and, later, Palau-Sator and Peratallada, whose medieval streets are really worth seeing. Don’t miss Sant Esteve de Peratallada’s church!... Moreover, in this village, you can find a great offer of restaurants.

Our next visit will be El Pedró, Pals’ old town, which has been recently restored. To finish our list of places of interest along this cycling tour through Baix Empordà, we will see rice fields and La Gola ( the mouth of the river Ter)

We will go back to Torroella de Montgrí riding along the river Ter.

Note: You can take an alternative way back from La Gola. It’s a country road which runs  almost in parallel to our recomended way. This road is a tarmac track and it is rather quiet when it is not a touristic season (see the map)
