|
0,18 |
- Soon afterwards, you turn to the right at the
signpost for El Torn and Santa Maria del Collell.
- Following this secondary road, which has quite
a good asphalted surface, you will soon enter the next municipality:
Sant Ferriol. |
0,18 |
|
3,20 |
- You pass a road to the right signposted for
Santa Maria del Collell (1,2 km away). Keep this place in mind
because later on you will be taking this road. |
3,38 |
| |
El Torn |
|
|
0,80 |
- Once you reach El Torn, you should take a road
to the left. However, before you go on, have a look at the hamlet.
There you will see its church and the little square behind it with a
fountain.
- You continue following a narrower secondary
road, in quite a good state, with some slopes, but with no great
difficulty.
- 2,20 km after El Torn, you cycle past a big
farm house called La Torroella de Sallent and you keep straight on,
crossing beautiful fields, where you will probably see cattle
belonging to the farm houses, until you reach Sant Vicenç de
Sallent or El Sallent. |
4,18 |
| |
El Sallent |
|
|
3,80 |
- After the last
hill, you reach road GI-524 again. Just before that, you will have
cycled past a small road on the right that you can take if you want
to have a look at the hamlet of El Sallent (already in the
municipality of Santa Pau).
- Follow road GI-524 to the right until you reach
the village of Santa Pau, which is well worth a visit. |

| |
Santa Pau |
|
|
3,90 |
- When you reach the village of Santa Pau, you
find traffic lights and then turning to the right you enter Sant
Martí Street (Carrer de Sant Martí). |
11,88 |
|
0,87 |
- You come to a crossroads after a ride downhill.
At the crossroads, a signpost points straight ahead indicating the
direction for Sant Martí Vell, a nice little hermitage in the
municipal area of Santa Pau. However, take the road to the right and
you will reach the hermitage anyway.
- From this point on, for several kilometres,
follow the red and white marks of the GR-2, until you are back in
Sant Vicenç de Sallent / El Sallent. |
12,75 |
| |
Sant Martí Vell |
|
|
0,48 |
- The road splits into two. Take the road to the
left, if you decide to visit the hermitage of Sant Martí Vell,
which you will see on the hill on the left hand side; it has
beautiful views inviting you to stop for a rest on your way.
- Take the road to the right and cycle straight
on following the indications for Sant Vicenç de Sallent – GR-2.
The asphalted road turns into a track and it becomes a little stony. |
13,23 |
|
1,00 |
- After 1 km you cycle past a house, which used
to be a water mill. Go on, following the GR-2 marks. |
14,23 |
|
0,26 |
- At 260 m from the mill-house, you find a
signpost. You leave a track to the right, which would take you back
to road GI-524 and go on following GR-2 directions to Sant Vicenç
de Sallent.
- For the next 300m the track will nearly
disappear, being completely covered by grass. |
14,49 |
|
0,30 |
- You come to a crossroads and to road GI-524.
You go on to the left, still following the marks of the GR-2 and the
signpost for La Carreteria, a rural house which offers tourist
accommodation. Now, the track will be surfaced again. |
14,79 |
|
0,90 |
- After 900 m the track splits into two and is no
longer surfaced. You have to continue to the right following the
GR-2 marks. The track goes downhill through the forest and becomes
quite stony. You will have to get off your bike for a while. |
15,69 |
|
0,50 |
- After the slope down, the track splits into two
directions again. To the left, you have a bridge and a nice
waterfall with some pools.
- If you take the track to the right, you will
come to road GI-524 again, quite near Sant Vicenç de Sallent. It is
the simpler option, even if you have to go up a slope.
- However, we also recommend you to continue to
the left, cycling on the bridge over the river and following the
marks of the GR-2. The track will become a path along the river, not
so easy to ride, and before you reach El Sallent you will be obliged
to carry your bike on your shoulders briefly to take it up to the
hard surfaced road again, but it will not be too difficult. |
16,19 |
|
0,67 |
- You will come up to an asphalted road beside a
modern bridge over the river, at the entrance of a private property
called Rocacorba in Sant Vicenç de Sallent.
- Cycle over the bridge, over the river, and then
up until you reach road GI-524 again. From this point, you will have
to cycle all the way back to El Torn. We will explain the way again
just to remind you of it. |
16,86 |
| |
El Sallent |
|
|
0,30 |
- Remember you have to go down the slope beside
the house that is on your left hand side at the bend of the road. It
is the old Hostal de la Camància (even if the letters on the front
wall are not very legible any more). The asphalted path is not easy
to see from this point but you have a small signpost indicating:
"camino rural".
- The road splits and you go on to the right if
you do not wish to go to the hamlet of El Salltent. Then, you keep
cycling straight on through the fields and the farm grazing lands,
which you already know, until you come back to El Torn. |
17,16 |
| |
El Torn |
|
|
3,80 |
- You are back at the hamlet of El Torn and you
continue to the right in the direction of Mieres. |
20,96 |
|
0,80 |
- After about 800 m you arrive at the crossroads
with the signpost for Sta. Maria del Collell (or El Collell) (1,2 km
away) and this time you take the road to the left following the
signpost.
- If you are already tired, you can also go on
straight ahead and cycle all the way back to Mieres, the starting
point of the route, which is only 3.3 km away. You will have cycled
a shorter route of about 25 km. |
21,76 |
| |
El Collell |
|
|
1,20 |
- After about 1.2 km in the direction of Sta.
Maria del Collell, you will find another crossroads. Turn to the
left if you want to visit the sanctuary. You will also find a bar
and a restaurant at the place.
- Cycle straight on to Sant Miquel de Campmajor. |
22,96 |
| |
Pont de Can Prats |
|
|
3,00 |
- After 3 km you can stop and have a look at an
interesting 11th Century Romanesque bridge, which is
called Pont de Can Prats.
- At 350 m from the bridge, turn to the right if
you want to visit the church of Sant Miquel. There is a beautiful
view of the mountain called Mare de Déu del Mont behind it. |
25,96 |
| |
Sant Miquel de Campmajor |
|
|
1,33 |
- You reach the
small centre of the municipality of Sant Miquel de Campmajor, which
is located beside road GI-524 between Banyoles and Mieres.
- Pay attention because you will have to take
road GI-524 to the left for about 100 m and cross it to take road
GIV-5246 to the right to go in the direction of Falgons (a hamlet in
the municipality of Sant Miquel de Campmajor). |
27,29 |
|
0,10 |
- At the crossroads, the signposts give us the
number of this secondary road and the distance to Falgons: 5 km. The
road is asphalted and well surfaced, but it has some hills.
- After 1,6 km you cycle past a track to the left
with the indications "Pujarnol" and "Fang
Aventura". If you want to continue to Girona, you can take this
route and continue as described in another route that you can find
on this website (the one from Sant Miquel de Campmajor to Girona). |
27,39 |
|
4,30 |
- 4.3 km away from de Sant Miquel, just before
you arrive in the hamlet of Falgons, you cycle past the castle of
Falgons from the 12th-13th Centuries. It is
private property, as you are warned by the signposts on both sides
of the construction. |
31,69 |
| |
Falgons |
|
|
4,50 |
- At 200 m from the castle a signpost tells you
that you have reached Falgons.
- Turn to the right and take a narrow asphalted
road, following a small signpost indicating "Camí de
Mieres". To the right, you can see the small hamlet of Falgons
with its church.
- Cycle past the church and keep straight on,
taking none of the three tracks that you will find on your right
hand side. |
36,19 |
|
0,68 |
- When you reach the top, if you continue
straight ahead you will be entering a farm house. So, turn to the
right following a small signpost for Mieres and go down a steep
slope. At the moment, the track is not asphalted for the next 800 m
and after about 250 m you will cycle through a section which can be
very muddy if it has been raining and is often icy in winter.
- Nevertheless, this track is being asphalted and
the works will probably be completed very soon.
- Keep cycling straight ahead and in a while you
will see the village of Mieres in front of you. |
36,87 |
|
2,32 |
- Turn left to go to Mieres.
- You can easily see its main church, Saint Peter’s
Church, on the hill. |
39,19 |
|
0,70 |
- Soon afterwards, at about, 70 m, turn to the
right again and you will come straight to the starting point of this
route, after only about 500 m.
- However, you can also go on straight ahead and
cycle all around the village, which is quite large in extension,
before you finish the route. |
39,89 |
|
0,55 |
- When you come to the starting point, at road
GI-524, you will have covered about 40 km along this route.
- In Mieres, you can find two restaurants, called
Puig sa Llança and Can Met, both near the end point of the route. |
