Description of the cycling route:

This route runs through the regions of El Gironès, La Selva and on the edge of the region of El Maresme, in the municipality of Tordera. It is a lineal route which connects Girona with Blanes, the most southerly town of the Costa Brava. We have cycled south, from Girona to Blanes, but this route can be cycled as well in the opposite direction because the accumulated climb is moderated. As usual, the route we have chosen runs on mud tracks and rural roads.

The route starts in Girona, in front of the Tourist office placed near the Plaça dels Jutjats (Jutjats Square). You have to follow the way that we are showing on the map in the road book. You will soon find the cycle way which will take you to the south out of Girona. From there on, you will cycle on the road GI 533 until you pass the village of Perelló. Then, you will start cycling on mud tracks which will take you to Salitja, Vilobí d’Onyar, Vallcanera, Riudarenes, Maçanet de la Selva and Tordera, where you can visit a busy openair market if you go on a Sunday.

You will continue taking the cycle way which runs between Tordera and Blanes, parallel to road GI 600, but you will leave it quite soon to approach the river Tordera, which you will follow until it comes to the sea. When you reach the beach, you will have to push the bicycle on the sand until the so-called Passeig Marítim, a promenade by the sea in Blanes, or you can take the first street to the left, which will take you, crossing several campsites, to the center of Blanes and to the end of the route.

We recommend you to visit the old parts of the villages you cycle through along the route.
